COKATO, Minn. — We’re already into the eighth month — August. Lots of things are happening in Cokato. The annual Corn Carnival, which has been happening annually since 1950, will take place August 10–12. Peterson Park will be filled with all things summer fun. The carnival rides, the bingo tent, the food stands and the corn stand are always favorites. You can have free corn by buying a corn carnival button, and a chance to win a car by buying a ticket. There are cash prizes too.

There is the kiddie parade and the main parade on Monday night, along with the queen crowning on Tuesday night. It is a fun-filled time in Cokato. Oh don’t forget the garage sales going all during the week. The Cokato Library has a book bag sale that should fill your reading table. You will be able to find more details by looking on Facebook.

The Cokato Museum is open during this time; just a walk across the street will give you a trip into history. There is still a lot of outside work to be done at the Temperance Corner. We noticed a log on the sauna has shown decay and that needs to be worked on. The repair will be similar to what we have done in the past on the cabin. The ditch in front of the hall needs to have some fill added because over the years the dirt has settled. We have been fortunate as we have members who are willing to help with labor and cost.

Watch for our September news with more on the fall festival and Finn Fest information. Enjoy the month and hopefully it will be nice weather for all our activities.
