Finnish American Reporter October 2026 | Calendar Photo Submissions Solicited

Calendar photo submissions solicited

Finnish-American, Finnish and Finnish-loving artists are invited to submit photographs of the Copper Country (Keweenaw, Houghton, Baraga, Ontonagon Counties, Isle Royale and part of Marquette County in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula) to be considered for placement on a 2027 calendar.

The photographs should be Finnish-themed. Some examples are the Finnish American Heritage Center, Finnish-American festivities, a sauna, an old homestead, our beautiful landscape or a Finnish dessert. Some festival-inspired suggestions include Heikinpäivä, St. Urho’s Day, Juhannus/ Midsummer, or Finland’s Independence Day.

Photographs of any season are welcomed and encouraged!

You do not have to live in the Copper Country to submit a photograph. Maybe you were on vacation, spent the summer here, or were just passing through and were struck by the beauty, heritage and culture of the area.

If your photograph is selected as one of the 12 monthly images or the cover image you will receive a free calendar and the honor of your image being displayed in someone’s home.

Submissions close on Tuesday, October 13 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.
